Let’s take a break!

Having a colleague murdered; and from the horrors of escaping a potential risk to my security and life in Cagayan Province down to Canatuan River in Zamboanga del Norte with feet infected with toxic mining waste, are unforgettable and life-changing. Working at the grassroots level, listening and learning from them, has been exhausting emotionally, mentally and physically, but their worries are heavier. Today in the Gospel, Jesus reminds us to regroup, debrief, share our experiences, and reflect. Yes, this Activist and Community Worker tells us: “Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” (Mark 6:31). To may NGO/PO colleagues, thanks for always being there.
